What is Nostra Aetate?

Nostra Aetate (October 28, 1965) states that " In [the Catholic Church's] task of promoting unity and love among men [and women], indeed among nations, she considers above all in this declaration what men [and women] have in common and what draws them to fellowship."

Thus, the Church urges people to engage in "dialogue and collaboration with the followers of other religions" to "recognize, preserve and promote the good things, spiritual and moral, as well as the socio-cultural values found among these [people]."

So, students study comparative religions, learning about the similarities and differences of religious faiths.
